Ranchi, Aug. 5: Directing state officials concerned to deal strictly with violators of traffic norms, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today said that speed of vehicles must be controlled to curb road accidents. She directed the officials to put rumble strips, signage and warning boards near all such black spots across the state. She also asked them to conduct a survey of all black spots, photograph them and make a work plan to stop accidents.
“In order to prevent road accidents, DPR and three year GR location should be prepared to improve the black spots. PMUs have been formed in every district and a report should be prepared how the PMUs are functioning and being monitored. At the same time, it should be ensured that the PMU team remains in contact with the police stations,” Verma said.
The CS stressed the need to analyze data on accidents at the black spots to find out major factors. She said the officials should identify black spots where at least five accidents have occurred or at least five people have been killed in the last three years. Black spots should be categorized and work should be done on a priority basis in accident prone zones. If land is required for improvement, it would be given, she said.
Principal Secretary Home SKG Rahate, DGP DK Pandey, Road Construction Secretary Mastram Meena and other officers were present at the meeting.
