Congressmen protest against Balmuchu not being invited to govt programme

Jamshedpur, March 13: Hundreds of Congressmen headed by former Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Vijay Yadav and former East Singhbhum district Congress president Ravindra Jha protested against party Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu not being invited to the foundation stone laying of Rs 255 crore road projects at the Marine Drive in Sonari on Sunday.

Incidentally, despite being elected from the region, Balmuchus name did not figure in the plaque laid on the occasion.

Several Congress workers gathered at the Moni Baba Mandir in Sonari with flags, banners and shouted slogans against the state government and Chief Minister Raghubar Das, as they were heading towards the venue. The district administration, however, stopped the Congressmen just outside the venur and arrested them. This led to an altercation.

Later, the Congressmen were sent to Sakchi police station and released after three hours. Earlier, former state party general secretary Ashok Choudhary and district president Vijay Khan came to meet the Congress workers and supported their cause.

The arrested Congressmen included Parvinder Singh, Shikha Choudhary, Jyotsana Sardar, Rakesh Sahu, Chinna Rao, Lalbabu Sardar, Surendra Sharma, Shailendra Singh, Rajesh Choudhary, Prateek Das, Prem Kumar and several other party workers.
