Congress to fight Lok Sabha with public support, no money for publicity: Rajesh Thakur

Ranchi, March 24: Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur has said that all the accounts of Congress have been frozen. Now Congress does not even have money for publicity.

Informing media at the party headquarters in Ranchi on Sunday, Rajesh Thakur said that now Congress party will contest elections with the support and love of the people.

Thakur said that the general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha have been announced. Every citizen of the country is eager to participate in it. India is known all over the world for its democratic values and ideals. Fair elections are essential for any democracy.

Rajesh Thakur said that it must be known in which countries this has happened recently. So this is a dangerous game played by the ruling party. This will have far reaching effects. But it is clear that by making any political party helpless, it creates obstacles in contesting elections.

He alleged that efforts are being made to paralyze the Congress Party financially. This is not just an attack by the Narendra Modi government on the accounts of the Congress Party, but an attack on India’s democracy. If the main opposition party becomes completely paralyzed financially, cannot do any work, cannot spend money on publicity, cannot spend money on campaigns, cannot give money to its candidates, then how can a free and fair election is possible?

Now that elections have been announced, we are not able to utilize the Rs 285 crore lying in our bank accounts for the last one month.

Rajesh Thakur said that regarding a case of 2017-18, the Income Tax Department has now frozen our bank accounts.

“Every political party is exempt from income tax. No one has ever given a penalty like this, so why is the Congress party being singled out? Second, look at its timing, 2017-18, the time of Moti Lal Vora ji and 1994-95, the time of Sitaram Kesari ji and this work is started only a month before the elections are announced,” he alleged.
