Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav to face trial in sexual exploitation case

Ranchi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav, who is facing allegations of sexual exploitation. The apex court’s decision upholds the order of the Jharkhand High Court, which had previously rejected Pradeep Yadav’s discharge petition on September 1.

Pradeep Yadav, seeking dismissal of the sexual exploitation case pending in the lower court of Dumka, had approached the Jharkhand High Court with a discharge petition, but the court did not grant him relief. With the Supreme Court now rejecting his petition, the Congress MLA is set to face trial in the lower court.

The case dates back to April 20, 2019, when a woman leader filed a complaint of sexual harassment against Pradeep Yadav. At that time, Yadav held the position of the general secretary of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik). The complainant alleged that she was subjected to sexual harassment during a meeting at a hotel to which she had been summoned by Yadav.

This legal development has intensified the scrutiny on Pradeep Yadav, and the decision to proceed with the trial underscores the commitment to justice in cases of alleged sexual exploitation. The court’s ruling reinforces the principle that individuals holding public office must be held accountable for their actions, irrespective of their political affiliations.
