Ranchi: Notwithstanding plans of party high-ups to contest the Assembly polls sans alliance partners, state Congress committee leaders cut a sorry picture before the state Congress president Sukhdev Bhagat by involving in mudslinging.
Leaders of two factions of Congress committee engaged in mutual accusation during the meeting of the state working committee convened by Bhagat on Sunday.
While one of the factions opposed suspension of senior leader Roshan Lal Bhatia, the other supported it by saying that Bhatia had made an anti-organization comment.
Some of the members also held Bhagat responsible for the poor position of party candidates in the Lok Sabha elections held recently in the state.
The state president somehow assuaged the opposing factions and proceeded with the meeting. The meeting was called to discuss the issue of ensuring coordination between the state government and the party.
