Congress leader murder: Party activists block Tata-Kandra road, four arrested

Jamshedpur, June 16: Buddeshwar Mukhi, better known as San babu, a local Congress leader was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on the Adityapur toll bridge under the Adityapur police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district�on Wednesday�evening.�

The murder victim, who was engaged in sale and purchase of land, was on a walk on the toll bridge at about�7.30 p.m.�when the two bike-borne assailants had shot him.

Protesting against the incident, party activists blocked the Tata-Kandra Road, as traffic went haywire for about two hours on Thursday morning.

The blockades which were set up near Kharkai bridge on Adityapur end and also at Adityapur toll bridge turning at�9 a.m.

As the news of protest spread, Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Indrajeet Mahatha informed protesters that two of the accused have already been arrested and assured them that the rest of accused will be arrested as early as possible.

Sanbabu (50) was shot at the back of his head.� He was rescued by one of his acquaintances, Anadi Acharchya, and rushed to the Tata Main Hospital where he breathed his last after a few minutes.

In this connection, the police have registered a case of murder against nine persons on the FIR lodged by the murder victim’s wife Ritika Mukhi.�

All the nine accused, residents of Adityapur had fled the town, but police had succeeded in arresting two of them by�2 a.m. on Thursday.�Later, in the afternoon, the police arrested two more accused, making the total number of arrested persons to four.

Those arrested were identified as Pawan Lohar (25), Pintu Lohar (22), Bablu Yadav (24) and Gora (27), all residents of a slum in Adityapur.

Additional SP, KV Raman who is probing the case said the murder of Sanbabu is suspected to have been conspired in sequel to a dispute over a plot of land at Dhirajganj, the locality where the murder victim would stay.

While speaking about the arrest, Raman said Pawan Lohar who is a resident of Dhirajganj was arrested from his house at about�2 a.m.�today followed by the arrest of Pintu from Gamharia, where as the rest of the three were nabbed from Gamharia.
