Congress eyes maximum pie at Kolhan

Jamshedpur: Though the election alliances of the State Congress is yet to be finalised, but talks doing the round in the political circuit is that the party wants maximum share in Kolhan.

There are 14 seats in the Kolhan region that comprises of three districts namely East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan. This region is being considered to be crucial for the parties.

A senior Congress leader said that though the alliance with any regional party in the State is yet to be finalized but we would like the arrangements in a way that the Congress gets fair deal. Our focus would in Kolhan.

It may be mentioned that veteran Congress leader Pradeep Balmuchu has already said that the party is keen to contest on all the 81 seats of Jharkhand Assembly in the upcoming polls. He has said that that the State Congress has already expressed its desire to contest on all the seats to Rahul Gandhi.

It may be noted that in the last Assembly polls the BJP contested 65 of the 81 constituencies in Jharkhand, leaving the remaining seats for allies.

Sources also informed that several important constituencies like those in Kolhan would be the prime focus of the party.

Meanwhile, State Congress secretary and senior leader SRA Rizwi Chabban has called for the Congress members to shed factional behaviour before they start preparing for the Assembly polls in Jharkhand. He said that fighting as one disciplined team was critical to ensure electoral win in the state.

Chabban said that all the senior leaders should join hands and prepare for the Assembly polls. He went on to add that the party�s senior leaders will decide whether to go an alliance or fight on all the 81 seats however time has come to give a bold face and prepare for elections.

�Our party gives equal importance to the promotion of youths. But for the young leaders it is important to be in discipline while in the party. The future of the party depends on them so they must unite to spread Congress� message to fulfill the vision,� noted Chabban.

He accused BJP of promoting crime and corruption in the State and said that the voters must teach the party a lesson.

He expressed concern that infighting has to end to achieve the goal. �It is important to work with utmost commitment to live up to the expectation of the people of Jharkhand. It is time party people must wake up,� he noted lamenting over current state of affairs.
