Companies warned against illegal parking of heavy vehicles on Litti Chowk Route in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Companies operating near the Litti Chowk–Town Hall stretch have been warned by the administration to ensure that heavy vehicles are not parked illegally, as such practices continue to cause severe traffic congestion despite the recent widening of the road.

Responding to growing complaints from local residents, the Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) of Dhalbhum, Shatabdi Majumdar, held a meeting with representatives from Timken, Tata Bluescope, and Tata Steel Downstream Products Ltd. During the discussion, she issued strict guidelines to prevent road encroachment and called for immediate corrective measures.

The SDO stressed that companies must coordinate with their respective transporters to curb unnecessary movement and halt the illegal parking of trucks and trailers. “Such carelessness can lead to loss of life and property, and vehicles must be stationed only in designated parking areas to maintain smooth traffic flow,” she said.

Additionally, the companies have been directed to establish internal monitoring systems to enforce compliance. Majumdar cautioned that if the situation does not improve despite repeated warnings, the administration will initiate legal action, including challans, vehicle seizures, and other punitive steps.

The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and has urged all stakeholders to cooperate in keeping vital roadways obstruction-free.
