Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Administration has issued an alert to the general public after a fake Facebook ID was created in the name of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal by an unidentified individual. The act has raised serious concerns over misuse of social media platforms to mislead citizens and is being treated as a case of cybercrime.
According to officials, the fake account appears to be aimed at confusing and potentially deceiving the public. The administration has urged all citizens to remain vigilant and cautious of such impersonation attempts.
“If anyone receives a friend request or an unusual message from a suspicious Facebook account claiming to be the Deputy Commissioner, they should immediately report and block the ID,” said an official spokesperson from the District Information and Public Relations Office.
The public is also advised to avoid sharing any personal information or responding to such messages without proper verification. In case of any suspicious activity, citizens should promptly inform the Cyber Cell, Jamshedpur or contact the District Information Office.
The matter is currently under investigation, and the district administration is working closely with cyber security officials to trace the culprit. The administration also reiterated the importance of digital responsibility and encouraged the public to help curb the spread of misinformation and online fraud.
For assistance or to report such incidents, citizens can contact the Cyber Cell or visit the official district website for more information.
