Seraikela, Sept 29: Rains played spoilsport during Chief Ministers Johar Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Seraikela on Saturday. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, who was expected to attend a public meeting at Seraikela community building and participate in the Jan Ashirwad Yatra could not reach the venue due to bad weather. Thousands of people including party workers, supporters and local villages were present at the venue, braving the rain. But the party leaders announced change in the CMs programme at the last minute.
Addressing the programme, state BJP president Laxman Giluwa said Jharkhand had seen unprecedented development in the past five years, thanks to BJPs double-engine government at Centre and Ranchi. The BJP governments planned and implemented welfare projects for farmers, youths, women and marginalized people. This is why the BJPs base in Kolhan had increased in the last Lok Sabha elections, he said.
The BJP had got 1.5 lakh votes in Seraikela Assembly constituency. Voters should increase the figure in the upcoming elections to enhance the power of BJPs double engine government, said the BJP state president.
Giluwa said the next three months were crucial for the state and its future. He warned voters against yielding to the lures of Opposition parties.
During the Jan Ashirwad Yatra, over 500 people from JMM and other Opposition parties joined the BJP in the presence of Giluwa and other party leaders.
Others present during the programme included BJP election in-charge cum Rajya Sabha MP Sameer Oraon, state minority commission vice president Ashok Sarangi, district BJP president Uday Singhdeo, Basko Besra, Ramesh Hansda and Kundan Singh.
