CM launches Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022

Infrastructure improvement, jobs for sportspersons, establishment of sports university key points in policy

Ranchi, September 13: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren launched Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022 on Tuesday.

The CM said that the way the state government has taken its step towards sports development, definitely state will be amongst leading state in the field of sports.

“Sports activities have increased rapidly in the state since the formation of the present government. For the coming five years, we have made a new sports policy, which has been launched. This sports policy made by the government is dedicated to the players, coaches and trainers of the state. Efforts has been made to understand the interest, awareness and inclination towards sports among the youth of Jharkhand. Our priority is to provide the platform to the players here. I am sure that the new sports policy framed by the state government will help our players to move forward in the direction of sports without any hindrance,” said Soren.

He said that in the recent past, players from other states of the country have registered their presence in various competitions organized in Jharkhand and the trainers here have also done the work of taking quality training.

“The children of Jharkhand have not only represented the state but the country in many sports and have brought laurels to the state and country in the world by winning medals. However, these children of the state prepare themselves with very limited resources. It is a matter of pride for us that our children emerge from the limited resources and bags medals in the country and emerge as the number one player in the country. To take this spirit of the players here further, our government has worked to bring a new sports policy in the state with focus on infrastructure development at grass root level,”said Soren.

The Chief Minister said that the policy will be changed from time to time according to the need.

“Instructions have also been given to the sports department to review the policy with changing time. By bringing changes in the sports policy, a provision will be made to give a minimum of Rs 50,000 as assistance to the players.  The government is seriously considering on securing future of the players after an age limit. Along with this, emphasis was given to give more speed to the stadiums being built in the state. The state government is also contemplating to promote sports activities in schools, an action plan will be prepared in this regard soon,” announced Soren.

Sports minister Hafizul Hasan said that Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022 was launched under the guidance and inspiration of the Chief Minister despite all the adverse circumstances.

“In the sports policy, arrangements have also been made to provide jobs to sportspersons and reservation in educational institutions. This sports policy will give recognition to talented sportspersons at national and international level in selected sports disciplines,” said Hasan. It will also envisage establishment of sports university and setting up of academies, training centers. 

On this occasion, 13 players of the state who have bagged medals in national and international arena were honored by giving assistance amount.
