Ranchi: In a significant move on World Children’s Day, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has abolished the restriction on providing benefits to only two girls from a family under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana. This means that all girls in a family will now be eligible for the scheme’s financial assistance for their education, starting from class 8 to class 12.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after interacting with child journalists from UNICEF on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of empowering girls and keeping them connected to their studies, stating that the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana was launched with this objective in mind. He expressed his desire to expand the scheme’s reach by removing the limit on the number of beneficiaries per family.
The Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana was initiated by the Jharkhand government to promote and expand education among girls from economically disadvantaged families. Through this scheme, the government provides financial assistance to help girls complete their higher education without facing financial constraints.
In a separate interaction with child journalists from six government schools in Ranchi district, CM Soren shared his own educational experiences and activities. He encouraged the children to never sever their connection with education, emphasizing that education is the key to a brighter future. He highlighted the importance of education in enabling individuals to distinguish between right and wrong and to make informed decisions.
Addressing the issue of stress among children due to the competitive education environment, CM Soren advised children to openly discuss any problems or concerns with their parents and family members. He stressed that open communication can help alleviate stress and prevent negative consequences.
The Chief Minister concluded his interactions by appealing to the children to never give up on their education. He assured them that the government is committed to providing better educational opportunities for all children and covering all their educational expenses. He expressed hope that this would encourage parents to prioritize their children’s education.
