CM advises GPS system installation on vehicles transporting minerals

Ranchi, Nov 27: Reviewing the works of the State Mining and Geological Department, Chief Minister Raghubar Das directed installation of GPS system in all vehicles used for transporting minerals.

He directed the officials to dispose mining and geology related matters soon as possible, since it is one of the main sources of revenue and employment. He directed the officials to formulate a new industry policy soon and start recruitment process.

Das laid stress on departmental coordination and ordered to amend wherever necessary. He directed the auction of one gold mining block and two lime stone mining blocks and ensuring the settlement of the 119 sand piers.

Principal secretary, Mining and Geological Department, S. K. Satpathi intimated the CM about the various works of the department. He told the CM that 477 illegal mines and 1388 crushers/ storage have been closed to curb illegal mining.

The secretary said that the mining lease of seven iron ore mines, one dolamite mine and three copper and limestone mines have been extended till March 31, 2020 under the Mining and Mineral Amendment Act 2015.

Three more iron ore mines and one manganese mining lease has also been renewed. Altogether 659 revision suits of small mining have been disposed in a short period of three months. The department informed the CM that 67 suits are pending and they would be disposed soon. The geological report of two mines each of gold, copper and lime stone have been received.

The CM directed the officials to enlist additional companies to obtain geological report of all the mining areas in the state. He reviewed the matter related to coal blocks and sand piers also.

Apart from this, 417 mining plants have been approved by the Environmental Department for small mining out of the approved 729 mining plants. He directed to get the remaining plants approved by the department.

Principal secretary, finance, Amit Khare, secretary to CM Sanjay Kr. Burnwal and other officers were present at the meeting.
