City to witness brain drain of students again

Jamshedpur : With results of the Class XII board examination, ISC declared, the students in the city have started heading for destinations outside the state.

Despite having well established universities, the State sees a huge exodus, with students preferring Delhi, Mumbai and other metro cities in North and West to their own. School authorities informed that every year on an average around six to eight thousand students migrate to metros for higher education and numbers are increasing every year.
Moreover, most of the students after completion of their education settle in other States thus leaving their home place to struggle with exodus of human resource too.

Teachers and the principals of city-based schools opine that crisis of qualified teachers in colleges, delayed academic sessions and inadequate infrastructure for higher studies have led the students migrate to other cities.
�We can not deny that exodus of the students to other metro cities for better education facilities is also one of the reasons for average performance of the city in the engineering examination,� said RK Mishra, city-based famous trainer of IIT aspirants.

He said that the students are moving to other cities for higher education and preparations of competitive examination. This may also be the reason why Mumbai zone has registered an overwhelming performance in IIT-JEE while eastern zone has done pretty badly in compare to last year.

When contacted a senior professor of Kolhan University college, said that the poor infrastructure and educational facilities in the colleges forces students to move for greener pastures.

�The scope to excel is limited here, for instance there is a dearth of good institutes and teachers in the city. If a student wants to study space engineering, where he goes,� said Rajesh Singh, a student of Karim City College.

If a student wants to study aeronautics, where does he go,� said Intkhab Alam, a student of DBMS, who is going to pursue MBA from Indian School of Business Management, Kolkata from this month.

He said that every one is aware of the condition of Kolhan University. Now who would want to spoil his career by taking admission in such colleges where the infrastructure is not up to the mark and the conditions of classrooms and laboratories are worse.
