Jamshedpur: Members of various social organizations of city organized a meeting at Parsudih to discuss various issues related to public utility on Tuesday. The issue of cancellation of power supply franchise by the state government was also raised during the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting, Dinesh Mahato, a local social worker, said the cancellation of franchise for power supply awarded to Tata Power by the state government was an unfortunate step taken by the government. He and other participants of the meeting said the government should rethink the issue in the larger interest of the people of the state.
�Chief Minister Hemant Soren and state energy minister Rajendra Singh should consider the case afresh and take a decision while taking into view various factors and consequences of the decision,� said Deepak Kumar, one of the participants.
The various outfits which participated in today�s meeting included Pragatishil Nagrik Manch and Kendriya Gramin Kshetra Vikas Sangathan.
The representatives of the outfits also decided to hand over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum regarding the scam involving the non-banking company Icore.
The meeting was attended by Tapas Patro, Shyam Ram, Viplav Kar, Chitranjan Swansi, Shankar Kar and Milan Singh.
