Gumla: A chit fund company operating in Gumla district stands accused of duping numerous villagers, with reported losses exceeding Rs 3 crore, 17 lakh, and six thousand. The staggering figure may escalate as more victims come forward. Distressed by the fraudulent practices, victims gathered for a meeting at Karaundi Garden to voice their grievances.
The victims recounted how the company, through its officials and agents, enticed them with promises of one and a half times the invested amount within three years and a doubling of funds within five years. However, upon the completion of the maturity period, the promised returns failed to materialize, leaving victims grappling with financial losses. The company allegedly exploited the trust of villagers by showcasing grand offices and residences.
Even today, the company purportedly continues to conduct meetings in rural areas of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, further raising concerns among the affected communities. The victims, who initially received payments as promised, later found themselves ensnared in the company’s deceptive practices.
