Manoharpur: Villagers of Binuwa in the Chiriya Panchayat have submitted a memorandum to the SAIL Chiriya Mines management, demanding that the company prioritize local youth for employment. The villagers finalized this decision during a special Gram Sabha (village council) meeting chaired by the Gram Munda (village head).
In the memorandum, the villagers highlighted that years of iron ore mining by SAIL Chiriya Mines have polluted local rivers and streams. They also noted that dust and soil erosion have degraded the fertility of agricultural land, severely impacting farming and crop yields.
The villagers emphasized that, despite living in a mineral-rich region, a lack of employment forces local youth to migrate to other states for work. Consequently, they urged the SAIL Chiriya Mines management to prioritize hiring local youth for Grade IV and other suitable positions.
The villagers also forwarded copies of the memorandum to the Manoharpur MLA, the Singhbhum MP, and the West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner to ensure administrative attention.
