Seraikela, May 27: The District Childline organized an open forum at Bagrasai village in Rajnagar block on Friday. Childline members Lakshmi Murmu and Romani Hansda said that Childline 1098 was being run with the help of Childline India Foundation for the care and protection of children under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. “1098 is a free national emergency phone service for children that operates 24 hours. The purpose of the Open House is to help children express themselves and learn about issues affecting them in their area and to evaluate Childline 1098 by children,” informed Lakshmi Murmu.
It may be mentioned that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, children were adversely affected in activities like studies, sports and creative pursuits. To reenergize the children a painting competition was organized among them by Childline of Seraikela-Kharsawan district on an open stage. Sports events like balloon races, balloon bursting and various other competitive events were also organized for children. Winners were awarded prizes by Sevika Savita Mardi. Seeing this, their attention towards studies and sports was seen increasing in other children. Biscuits and chocolates were distributed among the children by the Childline authorities.
