Seraikela, August 21: In a road accident that occurred late Tuesday night near Mudia turn, resulted in the death of constable Vinay Kumar Bansingh and serious injuries to five other policemen. The accident happened while the vehicle was returning from escorting former Chief Minister Champai Soren.

The vehicle, transporting policemen from the Seraikela Police Line, was involved in a collision with an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused the police vehicle to overturn. Vinay Kumar Bansingh, 44, a resident of Boya in West Singhbhum and the driver of the police vehicle, diedon the spot. Sub-Inspector Manoj Bhagat and constables Dayal Mahato, Sawan Chandra Hembram, Harish Laguri, and Silas Wilson Lakra sustained serious injuries.

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren had been returning from Delhi to his home in Jilinggoda after a three-day visit, and the escort vehicle was on its way back following the escort. The collision and subsequent overturning of the police vehicle led to the death of Constable Bansingh and critical injuries to the other officers.
Local residents who heard the collision rushed to the scene and notified the police. Seraikela police promptly arrived and transported the injured to Sadar Hospital. Following initial treatment, the injured were transferred to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) for further care.
Former President of the Police Association, Rajendra Khakha, visited the hospital to offer support and gather information on the condition of the injured. Seraikela Police Station Chief Hiralal Kumar confirmed the details of the accident and the unfortunate loss of Constable Bansingh, extending condolences to his family while ensuring the injured received prompt medical attention.
