Jamshedpur, August 21: The political landscape in Jharkhand is heating up as parties prepare for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. The Janata Dal (United) [JDU], an ally in the NDA coalition, has announced that former minister Saryu Roy will be their candidate for the Jamshedpur East constituency. This was confirmed by Bihar Minister and Jharkhand JDU In-Charge Ashok Chaudhary during an event at Michael John Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

Chaudhary stated that Saryu Roy, who previously won as an independent candidate, will represent the NDA in this election. JDU workers are committed to securing double the number of votes Roy received in the last assembly election. When questioned about the number of seats JDU will contest, Chaudhary emphasized that the election strategy would be finalized closer to the date. He also noted that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had specifically requested Roy to join JDU, underscoring the party’s strategic approach for the elections.

Chaudhary expressed confidence that the NDA would prevail across Jharkhand, dismissing criticisms from rivals JMM and Congress. He criticized the opposition for labelling others as insiders or outsiders and promised that the upcoming elections would clarify such distinctions.
The JDU Milan Samaroh and Shravani Milan Samaroh at Michael John Auditorium saw notable attendance from JDU leaders, including MLA Saryu Roy, senior JDU leader Madhukar Singh, and JDU state officials. The event also witnessed a significant number of new members joining JDU under the leadership of Badal Mahato.
