Jamshedpur, Aug 9: Manoj Mandal, hostel in-charge of Chaibasa Engineering College, Manoj Mandal, resigned from his post after a first year student committed suicide, sources said.
Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda and former CM Madhu Koda visited the college on Friday and inquired about the incident. It is learnt that the couple pressurized the college administration to ask Mandal to tender his resignation.
Sources said the first year student had jumped into a pond to end his life. In the suicide note reportedly written by him and shared on Whatsapp on Wednesday last, the deceased accused his classmates of sexually abusing him. Despite getting information from students about the suicide note, Mandal allegedly took no step to probe into the allegations.
