Jamshedpur: In a significant development ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Sardar Bhagwan Singh, the Chief of the Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC), has raised serious concerns over the exclusion of Sikh leaders from election ticket allocations. Despite a substantial Sikh voter base in both Jamshedpur East and West, no national or regional party has discussed or considered a Sikh candidate for the election.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, Bhagwan Singh highlighted the marginalization of Sikh leaders, emphasizing that this oversight is not just political but also undermines the community’s contributions and potential. “Sikhs are more than just a community that serves langar and provides seva. We are politically active, capable, and deserve rightful representation,” said Singh.
He further criticized the continued disregard of Sikh leaders, citing their exclusion from the previous Lok Sabha elections as well. “This is not the first time we have been sidelined. Political parties must not make the mistake of taking the Sikh community for granted,” he added, calling the issue a “serious matter” that demands immediate attention.
Members of the CGPC echoed Bhagwan Singh’s concerns, warning that this continued neglect could demoralize the Sikh community and disrupt social harmony in the region. They urged political parties to consider the needs and aspirations of the Sikhs before finalizing their candidate lists.
As the election approaches, the Sikh community awaits a response from the political parties on this pressing issue.
