Jamshedpur: Former MP and senior Congress leader, Dr. Ajoy Kumar, has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police, requesting an immediate halt to vehicle checking, particularly helmet checks, during the Durga Puja festival. In his letter, Dr. Kumar emphasized that people come out with their families to celebrate the festival, and the ongoing checking by the district administration is causing unnecessary inconvenience to them.
He pointed out that people from all communities visit Durga Puja pandals with their families to seek the blessings of the goddess, and the checking drive disrupts their enjoyment and creates an unwelcome disturbance during the celebrations. Dr. Kumar urged the authorities to suspend the checking operations so that people can fully enjoy the festival without any hassles.
“Our aim should be to provide a joyful atmosphere for everyone, not to cause inconvenience in the name of safety checks,” Dr. Kumar said. He further mentioned that the beautifully decorated pandals attract visitors from outside the city as well, and they, too, should be able to enjoy the festivities without being subjected to unnecessary checking.
He appealed to the district administration to ensure a smooth and hassle-free environment during the Durga Puja celebrations for the benefit of everyone.
