Jamshedpur, March 24: State Health and Disaster Management Minister Banna Gupta launched a scathing critique against the Central Government, alleging a concerted effort to cripple the Congress party economically, politically, and socially. Gupta’s remarks came during a press conference held at the Congress office Tilak Library, where he condemned the recent freezing of Rs 285 crore belonging to the Congress as a blatant example of the government’s purported campaign.
Gupta didn’t mince words in accusing the Central Government of abusing constitutional authorities to stifle opposition voices, asserting that their primary objective is to suppress Congress’s ability to effectively participate in democratic processes. He emphasized that the government’s tactics aim to strip Congress of its democratic rights, ultimately seeking to consolidate power by subverting democratic principles.
The Minister further scrutinized the electoral bond system, referencing recent scrutiny by the Supreme Court. Gupta raised questions about the legitimacy of hefty donations received by the ruling BJP, particularly highlighting instances where entities with meager assets purportedly made substantial contributions.
Addressing concerns regarding potential protests against these actions, Gupta cited the current imposition of the Model Code of Conduct, which limits opposition demonstrations. Responding to inquiries about his potential candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Ranchi, Gupta reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, expressing his willingness to adhere to its directives.
Joining Gupta at the press conference were key Congress leaders, including District President Anand Bihari Dubey, along with senior figures Khagen Chand Mahato, Subodh Singh Sardar, Yogendra Yadav, and Manoj Jha, among others.
