CBSE East Zone Archery Championship begins at NML Kerala Public School Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 24: The three-day CBSE East Zone Archery Championship commenced on Thursday at NML Kerala Public School, Agrico, with great enthusiasm. The tournament was inaugurated by Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Camp Commandant of NCC 32 Battalion, along with District Sports Officer Avinesh Tripathi, KPS Chairman Srikant Nair, KPS Trust Chairperson Manorama Nair, Academic Director Lakshmi Sharat, Ranjana Nair, and Shanta Vaidyanathan.

School Principal Gurpreet Kaur delivered the welcome address, marking the formal opening of the event. A total of 556 archers, both boys and girls, from 56 CBSE schools across Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh are participating in the championship, which will run until Saturday.

The competition includes events in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 age categories. Based on their performance, top archers will be selected to participate in the CBSE National Archery Championship, scheduled to be held in Sangrur, Punjab, from September 22 to 26.

International coach Harendra Singh is serving as the Competition Director. A total of 18 targets have been set for the tournament. Ranking round matches were conducted on the opening day.

Sports teachers Dhananjan Sharma, Jitan, and others were also present during the event.
