Carmel Junior College’s Saara Jain wins Under-19 Title at CISCE Zonal Chess Meet

Jamshedpur, June 25: The VIIth CISCE Zonal Chess Tournament concluded successfully at J.H. Tarapore School on Wednesday with competitions in the girls’ Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories. A total of 122 participants took part in the event, displaying impressive skill, concentration and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
In the Under-14 category, Monali Biswas of Kerala Public School, Kadma emerged champion, while Eshani Choudhury of Tarapore School, Agrico secured second place. Bidushi Munshi of Hill Top School finished third.
The Under-17 title was won by Pragya Bhardwaj of J.H. Tarapore School. Kaavya Mandal of Carmel Junior College secured second position, while Shreya Dutta of Sacred Heart Convent School claimed third place.
In the Under-19 category, Saara Jain of Carmel Junior College emerged champion. Ajuni Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School finished second, while Advika Mohanty of Loyola School secured third place.
The tournament was conducted under the leadership of Principal Lata Sharat, Tournament Director, Vice-Principal Rukshana H. Gardin, Organizing Chairperson, and V. Arun Kumar, Organizing Secretary. The closing ceremony was graced by Firoz Khan, Vice President of JOGGA, as the chief guest.
All prize winners were felicitated during the ceremony. The winners from all three categories in both the boys’ and girls’ sections will now represent the Jamshedpur Zone at the CISCE Regional Chess Tournament to be held at International School Patliputra, Patna, on July 15 and 16.
