CAIT urges PM Modi to involve trading community in G20 Events

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in a communication sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged him for involvement of the business community in various events that will be held during the G-20 Presidency tenure of the Country. In its letter to PM, the CAIT has said that the business community of the Country is highly delighted and motivated for performing its major role during India’s Presidency of G-20 which is a rare honour for the Country under visionary leadership of Modi. 

CAIT has further said that the Presidency tenure India is an opportunity for the Country not only to showcase the centuries old vibrant and lively culture of our India but even for demonstrating the pace of development in terms of infrastructure, technology and of course the trade & commerce that has been accomplished in the past few years. The CAIT has sent similar communication to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri and G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

CAIT National Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal and National Secretary Suresh Sonthalia in communication to PM Modi has suggested that a large number of foreign dignitaries and delegates will be visiting various cities and will certainly take rounds of the respective cities and also do shopping. In the wake of such a scenario, it will be in fitness of things if commercial markets of the cities may be nicely illuminated and decorated depicting the old heritage of the city and development of trade and commerce in the city and the Country.  It is further suggested that during the course of the event in a particular city an “Utsav” may be held where not only a commercial exhibition is organised but the journey of the city may also be showcased.

Both the trade leaders informed that the CAIT has already moved a suggestion of beautification and illumination of markets and organising a “DILLI UTSAV” to Lt. Governor of Delhi VK Saxena as Delhi being the capital of the Country must showcase the rich cultural & social heritage of the Country and robust development of trade and commerce.

Sonthalia said that the CAIT is motivated by “Jan Bhagidari” and encouragement to small sector of the Country vision of the Prime Minister Modi, has suggested that trade associations across the Country particularly in the cities where G-20 meetings and other programs will be held, may be involved in various preparations for getting cities ready to host such meetings and other programs. Moreover, it will be a good opportunity for the small industries, start-ups, traders and other verticals of the domestic trade to boost export of their products to G-20 and other Countries. Beside large companies, the small industries and other retail sectors are also well placed to contribute significantly to objectives and mandate of G-20 Summit.

CAIT Sr Leader Brijmohan Agarwal also said that it is important to note that besides 19 major economies and the European Union as G-20 members, 10 0ther Countries as Special Invitees and 11 World Organisations including United Nations, WTO, WHO, IMF, World Economic Forum, ADB etc will be participating in G-20 meetings and accordingly about  200 events have being planned by the Government which will be held in different cities and therefore every such city is likely to be visited by large number of foreign dignitaries and delegates of G-20 and as such the commercial markets cannot be ignored.

The CAIT has volunteered to organise illumination and beautification of the markets in every host city of G20 event with support of local Trade Associations and  Government administration.
