Jamshedpur, Sep 5: Today, Brijmohan Agarwal, Chairman of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), alongside President B.C. Bhartia, General Secretary and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, and National Advisor and former Union Minister Smriti Irani, announced a new membership campaign for shopkeepers across the country. This initiative aims to enrol all shopkeepers in CAIT for a nominal fee of Rs 50.

The campaign, which starts on 7 September in conjunction with Ganesh Chaturthi, targets enrolling over one crore members nationwide by 31 December 2024. Smriti Irani will kick off the campaign by visiting major markets in Delhi to begin the membership process.

The decision to launch this campaign was made during the National Executive meeting in Nagpur on 21-22 August. The primary goal is to unite small traders to ensure they benefit from government schemes and to empower CAIT to advocate for traders’ issues with both state and central governments. The organization aims to ensure that government officials and ministers directly engage with traders, reducing the need for traders to seek government attention.

The Zoom meeting was attended by prominent traders from Jharkhand, including Sanghrakshak Bharat Bhasni, Kolhan in-charge Kishore Golchha, Dilip Goyal, Sawar Mal Sharma, Vinod Sharma, and Shiv Sundar Agarwal.
