Jamshedpur, Dec 15: Congress candidate from Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta Sunday said the Central government had brought the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) with the intention to paper over its failures and mislead the people of the country. He said the controversial amendment had resulted in a state of internal disturbance across the country. Many parts of the country are witnessing unprecedented violence and anarchy, he said.

Gupta, in a press statement issued today, said, The country is going through tough times. Inflation, unemployment and a weak economy have made the lives of citizens difficult. The Central government wants to disconcert the people from these flagrant issues with the help of CAA. Today inflation has snatched away vegetables from the common mans platter. Onion price is touching the skies. Industries are shutting down and people are becoming jobless. But the Centre seems to be least bothered about the goings-on.

The Congress leader slammed the Central government for privatizing public sector undertakings. He said several lakh people had become unemployed due to governments recent measures. He accused the government of acting like the agents of capitalists.
