Jamshedpur: Leading jewelers of the city today were all geared up for ‘Akshaya Tritiya,’ considered to be one of the most sacred occasion of the year with a belief that valuables bought on this auspicious day will bring luck and success. The buyers went on shopping spree on the occasion.
Hoardings and billboards announcing big deals, lucrative discounts and special offers on the purchase of gold and silver ahead of Akshaya Tritiya were put at every nook and corner of the city. Both big and small jewellers are gearing up for this auspicious day.
AkshayTritiya is considered auspicious for purchasing gold, silver, real estates and taking up new ventures. Even surges in the price of gold have not slowed the sale of the metal in Jamshedpur.
Hitesh Adeshra, a city based jeweler said, “Last year the price of gold was around Rs 27,000 per ten grams and this time it is about Rs28,400 but it is not affecting our sales too much. In fact Akshaya Tritiya is compensating the losses that we incurred during the recent strike.”
Even banks and post offices are not behind to en cash this opportunity. They too are coming up with different kinds of offers for luring people. On one hand India Post is offering 6 per cent rebate on gold coins whereas on other hand banks are offering discounts up to Rs15 per gram.
“Akshaya Tritiya is the most auspicious day according to the Hindu calendar. I will invest in gold this AkshayaTritiya as gold always moves positively. It takes less space for storage. I prefer buying gold coins from banks as they provide imported gold coins long with certificate,” said Shashi Prakash, a buyer.
In diamonds too, the showrooms have launched a unique every day diamond collection for urban women. The collection is a fusion of white, yellow and pink gold and attractive enough to mesmerize the buyers.
“ This year with the economy booming and all industries are performing well, we are confident that consumers will stock up gold as an investment for AkshayTritya despite the higher prices since the yellow metal is expected to either stabilise at this level or even rise further,” said Ravi Soni, a dealer of gold and diamond products. According to information the sales on AkshayaTritiya is expected to be 10 times higher than that of a normal day.
Another show owner said that prices have remained firm since the past festive season which gives all the more confidence to consumer to go ahead with their gold purchases especially during Akshaya Tritiya festival.
