Jamshedpur, Oct 13: A burglary took place at a photocopy shop located on Kunwar Singh Road under Ulidih police station area of Mango late on the night of October 11.
Unknown miscreants reportedly broke the lock of the shop and decamped with Rs 30,000 in cash.
Shop owner Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Kunwar Singh Road, discovered the theft the next morning, on October 12, and immediately informed Ulidih police.
Rakesh, who runs the shop under the name F-Word Photocopy, said he had closed the shop as usual at night.
However, on opening the shop the next morning, he found the lock broken and the cash missing from the drawer. Interestingly, the thieves did not touch any other items inside the shop.
Acting on the complaint, Ulidih police reached the spot and conducted an inspection.
A formal FIR has been lodged based on the written application of the shopkeeper. Police are now scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the culprits.
According to the Officer-in-charge of Ulidih police station, the preliminary probe suggests that only cash was stolen in the incident. He added that the investigation will also look into why such a large amount of money was left in the shop overnight. Police have assured that all angles are being thoroughly probed and that the case will be solved soon.
