Jamshedpur : The burglars decamped with cosmetic items and food-grains worth over Rs 1.5 lakh from a godown at Mango in the wee hours of Friday. The burglary took place when the owner of the godown-cum-residence, Pramod Singh was sleeping.
In this connection, the police have have started investigating into the incident. Officials of Mango police station said that the burglars decamped with the valuables after cracking four locks. He admitted that the burglary took place despite the night-patrolling by the police is done across Mango area extensively.
It seems they were well aware of the exact place where the key of the lock was kept and had opened the door without much difficulty. We are investigating into the case and no arrest has been made so far,” said the official.
The officer claimed that the night patrolling is carried out regularly on the streets, but they failed to take notice of this burglary.
A series of burglaries in the city during past few months has prompted the police to take some immediate measures to curb the menace. Thefts not only in residential areas but also in commercial establishments have been reported as a major section of the police force was away on election duty for the last few weeks.
The police administration has decided to increase night patrolling in the city, especially in Mango and Sakchi localities of the city.
