Jamshedpur, Feb 11: Constructing parking lots on roads and collecting parking fees from people is illegal. This should not be allowed. This was observed by Ravindra Tiwary, member of National Road Safety Council, on his visit to Jamshedpur on Tuesday. He held a meeting at Circuit House today.
Tiwary said the construction of Tata-Ranchi national highway 33 was on in full swing and 60 per cent of the work had been completed. By March, the highway will be ready for public use.
Tiwary further said he was baffled by the parking system in the city and traffic problems being faced by the people. He said he had spoken to the district traffic police and transport officials in this regard and asked them to free city roads from encroachment. He said the authorities should first construct parking spaces and then levy parking fees. He said he would return to the city after three months and hold a review of the traffic and parking situation. He said the current situation cant be allowed to continue.
Tiwary inspected six black spots of the city today and directed district officials concerned to prepare plan for preventing road accidents.
