Jamshedpur, Jan 5: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy Sunday said there was nothing wrong with the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR). He said the broad-minded approach of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was needed to make the present environment peaceful and harmonious. He said India is a large country with diversity. If all citizens consider each other as family members, there will not be any problem, he said.
In an aside on the Central government, Roy said political parties having majority should not think about suppressing people in a democracy. He was addressing Lok Shahi Vijay Samaroh organized by Paigam-e-Aman in Sakchi. He was felicitated with a golden crown by members of the outfit for his electoral victory.
Roy said a conducive environment should be built for CAA and NRC. He said CAA case was pending in the Supreme Court and that very soon things will become clear.
Roy further said that 80 per cent BJP workers were with him. He said the people had rejected the BJP candidate in Jamshedpur East and voted for change.
