Bridge between Tetla and Bada Bandua to be built at ₹2.60 Crore

Potka : Fulfilling a decades-old demand of the people, the foundation stone for a new bridge between Tetla and Bada Bandua villages in Potka block was laid on Saturday under the Chief Minister Gram Setu Yojana. The bridge, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹2 crore 60 lakhs, was inaugurated by Potka MLA Sanjib  Sardar amidst enthusiastic participation from local villagers and public representatives.

The moment marked a historic milestone, as villagers from Tetla and Joodi Panchayats celebrated what they called a long-awaited development that will finally ease their connectivity issues. Traditional music, cultural programs, and warm hospitality added color to the event, as residents welcomed the MLA with great fervor.

The bridge, to be built over the river that divides the two villages, has been a persistent demand since India’s independence. During the monsoon, rising river levels would often isolate these villages, cutting them off from essential services, markets, and nearby towns. The new infrastructure promises to provide much-needed relief to thousands of residents, ensuring all-weather connectivity.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sanjib  Sardar stated, “It is my constant effort to ensure the light of development reaches even the remotest villages of Potka. The Abua government under Hemant Soren has already approved over 60 road strengthening and repair schemes based on my recommendations, in addition to the construction of multiple bridges across the constituency.”

He emphasized that the Abua government’s schemes are reaching the grassroots level, turning long-standing aspirations into reality and improving the quality of life in tribal and remote areas.

The ceremony was attended by several local leaders and dignitaries, including Mukhiya Amrit Majhi, MP representative Yashwant Mahato, village head Shyamcharan Sardar, and prominent community figures like Shatrughan Sardar, Chandravati Mahato, Sunil Mahato, Bablu Choudhary, Sudhir Soren, Jagdish Majhi, Bhutad Murmu, Dason Tudu, Pankaj Pal, Ardhendu Gop, Sona Ram Murmu, Pradeep Sardar, Ravindra Sardar, Satyanarayan Sardar, Ramesh Mahato, Bhubaneshwar Sardar, Bhoglu Tudu, Vidyasagar Das, Biren Patra, and Chakradhar Mahato.

With the formal commencement of this project, residents of Potka can now look forward to safer travel, better access to essential services, and inclusion in the district’s growing network of development initiatives.
