Braving rain, who’s who of the city pay final tribute to Shireen Dotivala

Jamshedpur, July 27: Braving the rain, Who’s who of the city paid their last respect to renowned academician of the city and principal of Baug-E-Jamsheed School Shireen N Dotivala (64) at her residence in 3, C.H. Area, North East on Monday.

Right from Ruchi Narendra wife of Tata Steel MD to Educationist and a fast friend of Shireen, Lalita Sarin along with principals of most of the reputed private English medium schools of Jamshedpur and other reputed personnel of the city were in attendance.

Shireen (64) who passed away at the Tata Main Hospital on Sunday following a massive cardiac arrest had promised to donate her body to MGM and her eyes to Roshni.

Baug-E-Jamsheed which was closed on Monday will remain closed on Tuesday, July 28 in respect to Mrs. Shireen Dotivala.

Present during the funeral proceedings were Principal of DBMS English School Rajni Shekhar, Hill Top School Puneeta B Chouhan, Jamshedpur Public School Namita Agarwal, Members of the Parsi Community, Senior Tata Steel officials and others.

It may be noted that Baug-E-Jamsheed was the first school in the city to receive the prestigious Dr. J.J. Irani Award for Excellence in Education under the Tata Steel Education Excellence Programme (TEEP) in 2013. The school again won it this year under Dotivala’s guidance.

Mrs. S. N. Dotivala was nominated “Teacher of the Year” by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur (main) during the Teacher’s Day week at a ceremony held at Beldih Club, Jamshedpur. Under the able guidance of Mrs. Dotivala BEJS received the first prize in 2009 for the EQUIP(Education Quality Improvement Project) – ‘Multiple Intelligences woven into the Activity Based Curriculum’ and was awarded for its Best Practice- ‘Teachers’ Professional Portfolios for continuous improvement in teaching methods’.  

The façade of the school was changed with an impressive entrance. She was the principal of Baug-E-Jamsheed school since 1988. Under her guidance Baug-E Jamsheed joined hands with schools in Singapore and United Kingdom.
