Jharkhand: Three kids killed in tanker mishap at Manjhari, CM condoles deaths

Jamshedpur, July 12: Three children were killed after an oil tanker fell upon them near Jangiburu Valley under Manjhari police station area in West Singhbhum on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the tragedy and offered condolences to the bereaved families. Majhgaon MLA Niral Purty demanded compensation to the next of kin of the deceased kids. He also demanded compensation for the bereaved family from the oil tanker owner.

Sources said the mishap occurred around 11 am when the children were playing near the school while their mother was working in a nearby farm. The oil tanker going up the valley suddenly stopped and started rolling back dangerously. Soon it ran over the kids and turned turtle. The victims died at the scene, sources said.

Local MLA said many heavy vehicles including oil tankers plied on the Balandia-Singhpokharia main road despite there being a ban on their entry. He demanded that the district administration should take stern action against truckers flouting no entry and road safety rules with impunity.
