Ranchi: Jharkhand Assembly continued to witness a chaotic atmosphere on the third day of the budget session on Friday as Bharatiya Janata Party legislators turned adamant on demanding a probe into the horsetrading case related to Rajya Sabha elections of 2012. As a result of the commotion, no replies could be recorded to the queries put forth by the members.
The finance minister of the state Rajendra Prasad Singh presented budget for the financial year 2014-15 amidst the chaos. Jamshedpur East MLA Raghuvar Das and former Speaker CP Singh were among the few who raised slogans seeking a probe into the horsetrading case.
The BJP legislators said a witness produced by Central Bureau of Investigation, Vikas Pandey alias Sunty had accused 17 Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislators of accepting bribe during the Rajya Sabha election.
Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch MLA Bandhu Tirkey raised a question alleging that 2000 out of 3800 successful candidates of the Fifth Jharkhand Public Service Commission were ‘outsiders’.
The Speaker Shashank Shekhar Bhokta postponed the proceedings till 11.30 pm after failing to persuade the legislators from hindering the session.
