Ranchi, June 5: Praveen Singh, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), has called for a judicial inquiry into the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh in Jamshedpur. Singh addressed the media during a press conference held at the Ranchi Press Club on Monday, advocating for an investigation by either a retired judge or an all-party committee of the Vidhansabha.

Accusing Jharkhand’s Health Minister, Banna Gupta, Singh claimed that Jamshedpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Prabhat Kumar, was acting on the minister’s instructions. Singh further alleged that Abhay Singh’s family members were being subjected to daily harassment and false cases were being filed against them. Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the matter, Singh declared that if no action was taken, he would meet the Home Minister to file a complaint and initiate protests throughout Jharkhand. It should be noted that Abhay Singh, a BJP leader, was arrested by the police in Jamshedpur on April 8 in connection with a case related to communal tension, and the BJP has been staging demonstrations across Kolhan since then, which are ongoing.
