Jamshedpur, June 5: The Press Club of Jamshedpur hosted a distinguished Pratibha Samman ceremony at Russi Mody Center for Excellence on Monday to honor the children of journalists from various media institutions in the city for their remarkable performance in the board exams.

The event witnessed the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Prabhat Kumar, as the chief guest, who delivered an inspiring address. He emphasized that talent is not limited to any specific circumstances and debunked the notion that success can only be attained through expensive education in private schools. Drawing from his personal experience, SSP Prabhat Kumar shared that he completed his graduation from a government school and college, with a total expenditure of just 365 rupees. Through this example, he encouraged the children of media professionals, acknowledging their remarkable achievements while reminding them of the challenges that lie ahead.

SSP Prabhat Kumar stressed the importance of maintaining focus in today’s era, particularly due to the prevalent distractions of social media. He specifically addressed parents, urging them not to impose their own expectations on their children’s career choices. Instead, he emphasized the significance of considering their children’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing them the freedom to choose their own path. To illustrate this point, he mentioned how imposing different career choices upon iconic personalities like Sachin Tendulkar or Lata Mangeshkar would have hindered their remarkable success and the pride the world holds for their talents.

Furthermore, SSP Kumar expressed his concern about parents outsourcing their responsibilities by excessively relying on coaching classes and tuitions. He urged parents to cease this practice and spend at least one hour every day with their children, as it significantly influences their character and development.

During the event, SSP Kumar provided valuable advice to the children, stating that dedicating six years after 10th grade and four years of diligent efforts after 12th grade will undoubtedly make them worthy individuals who can lead a respectable life. Prior to his address, senior journalist Sandeep Savarn delivered the inaugural speech, setting the tone for the ceremony.
