BJP intensifies demand for arrest of Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu amidst cash recovery controversy

Ranchi: In a dramatic turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand has escalated its protest, demanding the arrest of Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu, following the widespread recovery of currency notes. The controversy has spiraled into a political battleground, with the BJP accusing the ruling Congress-JMM coalition of involvement in a colossal liquor scam spanning Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Orissa.
State BJP President Babulal Marandi, in a recent press conference in Ranchi, alleged that the recovered cash, amounting to crores, is linked to top Congress leaders and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A case has been registered against Dheeraj Sahu, and the BJP is fervently calling for his immediate arrest.
The BJP’s stance gained momentum after a press conference held by BJP MLAs across all districts of the state. They reiterated the state president’s demands, accusing the Congress-JMM alliance of corruption. Scheduled for December 10, the BJP plans to stage protest demonstrations at all district headquarters in the state.
In a press conference led by BJP MLA CP Singh, a call was made to hand over the case to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Singh demanded the arrest of Dheeraj Sahu and the termination of his Parliament membership. Singh condemned the Congress party, stating that corruption is ingrained in its DNA, and accused Congress leaders of engaging in a competition of corruption.
Singh claimed that the recovered cash, unprecedented in the country’s history, was earmarked by the Congress for illicit practices like horse trading and resort politics in the elections of three states. Allegations were also directed at Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, suggesting a river of corruption flowing within the Congress leadership. Chief Minister Hemant Soren was not exempt from suspicion, with Singh insinuating his potential involvement in the recovered amount.
Despite the gravity of the situation, leaders of the ruling coalition have chosen to remain silent on the large-scale currency recovery. Singh insisted that the funds are linked to a black money trail originating from a liquor scam spanning Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Orissa.
Singh concluded by invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to recovering every penny looted from the public, emphasizing that those involved in corruption must be held accountable. Varun Sahu and Balram Singh were also present during the press conference, adding weight to the BJP’s allegations against the Congress-JMM coalition.
