Harelal Mahto to contest Ichagarh seat on Ajsu ticket
Jamshedpur, Oct 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided not to field a candidate for the Ichagarh assembly seat.
On Friday, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) finalized seat sharing for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest 68 seats, the AJSU party 10 seats, Janata Dal United (JDU) 2 seats, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP) will contest on 1 seat.
Arvind Singh alias Malkhan Singh, had been preparing to contest from Ichagarh on a BJP ticket. However, with the party stepping back, it is now possible that Singh may enter the race as an independent candidate.
Meanwhile, Ajsu party leader Harelal Mahto has been declared the NDA alliance candidate for the Ichagarh assembly seat. The announcement was met with celebrations at the AJSU party headquarters, where Mahto was congratulated by his supporters, who offered him sweets. AJSU’s central member, Satya Narayan Mahto, also congratulated Harelal Mahto by garlanding him.
The Ichagarh seat had been a subject of contention within the alliance, but there had been reports that AJSU would contest from this constituency. Harelal Mahto has been actively involved in the Ichagarh assembly for the past five years and is now gearing up for a tough fight against the sitting JMM MLA, Savita Mahto, in the upcoming elections.
AJSU party will contest from- Silli, Ramgarh, Gomia, Ichagarh, Mandu, Jugsalai, Dumri, Pakur, Lohardaga, and Manoharpur.
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) has been allotted two seats. The party will field candidates in Jamshedpur West and Tamar, despite earlier demands for 11 seats.
Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has secured one seat and will be contesting from the Chatra assembly constituency.
