Bhojpuri Manch flays Champai for banning Chhath

Jamshedpur: Members of Bhojpuri Navchetna Manch on Monday criticized JMM leader and MLA Champai Soren for allegedly banning Chhath celebration in his native village Jilinggora at Gamharia (in Seraikela-Kharsawan). They burnt an effigy of the MLA at Golmuri Chowk in the evening.

They said Soren was trying his best to divide the Adivasis and the non-Adivasis. They accused Soren of trying to foment communal hatred in a bid to gain cheap popularity for a few days. They claimed that Soren and his supporters were trying to take advantage of sensitive issues by publicizing them.

One of the Bhojpuri Manch leaders, Appu Tiwary said Soren was trying to make the state unstable by giving such disturbing and irresponsible statements in the public. He said the people should not pay heed to the calls given by Soren and other tribal leaders like him as it was aimed at disturbing social peace.

Among those present during the effigy burning programme included Amarjeet Singh, Pravin Prasad, Nagesh Rao, Sunil Pandey, Satish Mishra, Arun Shukla, Arun Pandey, Rishi Pandey, Neeraj Dubey, Abhishek Ojha and Premchand Bhagat.
