Jamshedpur: State Youth Congress secretary of Jharkhand Rakesh Sahu on Wednesday said the Jharkhand of Bhagwan Birsa Mundas dreams was still years away, thanks to the various successive governments who took no interest in chasing the dreams of the great martyr.
Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Sunday Market, Birsanagar, Sahu said the poor people of Jharkhand were still starving to death. Even after 17 years of the states formation, poverty and unemployment still persist in Jharkhand, he said.
Sahu said the BJP was guilty of throwing a spanner in the states progress. He said the BJP had ruled for 15 years, but done nothing for the state and its people.
Earlier, the Congress leaders paid tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda by garlanding his statue. Tributes were also paid to the 1100 people killed in road accidents on the National Highway 33.
Among those present on the occasion included Parvinder Singh, Akhilesh Yadav, Surendra Sharma, Nalini Sinha, Naushad, Amar Mishra, Vicky Kumar, Kamlesh Sao, Aruna Mukhi, Manoj Sao, Sonu Singh and Laxman Yadav.
