Jamshedpur, Jan 4: The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West hosted a seminar at Beldih Club, featuring the renowned Dr. Sudhakar Varanasi from Bengaluru. He is known as the ‘Father of 108 Emergency Services.’ Dr. Sudhakar shared the inspiring story behind the inception and expansion of the 108 Ambulance Service in India.
He recounted how the tragic loss of a friend in a road accident motivated him to establish an efficient ambulance service. With support from private companies, he initiated the 108 Ambulance network, which now operates with 37,000 ambulances across India, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, and has saved over 1.5 lakh lives to date.
During the seminar, Dr. Sudhakar also played a flute rendition of a Gandhian song, adding a soulful touch to the event. He emphasized the importance of working for societal uplift and encouraged youth to align their careers with service to the nation.
Dr. Amit Mukherjee, President of the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, hosted the program, and Amresh Sinha delivered the vote of thanks. The seminar was attended by members of prominent Rotary Clubs in the city, who lauded Dr. Sudhakar’s contributions and vision
