Basanti Durga Puja at Jamshedpur Kalibari Ashram from March 24

Five-day festival in Jamshedpur to feature rituals, aarti and cultural programmes

Jamshedpur: The sacred festival of Basanti Durga Puja will be celebrated with devotion and spiritual fervour at Kalibari Ashram from March 24 to March 28, 2026. Devotees from across the city are expected to participate in the religious ceremonies and seek the blessings of Goddess Durga during the five-day festival.

The celebrations will begin earlier with Kalash Sthapana and Chandi Path on March 19, marking the commencement of the auspicious Navratri period. On March 24, the first day of the main celebrations, Ashok Shashthi Puja will be held in the morning. In the evening, the ceremonial invocation of Goddess Basanti Durga will take place at 6:30 pm, followed by an Anand Mela for devotees.

On March 25, the Saptami rituals will be performed with the traditional Nabapatrika entry and puja in the morning. A cultural programme will be organised in the evening for devotees and visitors.

The Maha Ashtami Puja will be observed on March 26, beginning at 7:02 am. The rituals will include Pushpanjali and the sacred Sandhi Puja, considered among the most important ceremonies of the festival. Cultural programmes will again be held in the evening.

On March 27, Navami Puja will be conducted in the morning. A special Kumari Puja will also be organised on the occasion of Maha Navami.

The festival will conclude on March 28 with Dashami Puja and Darpan Visarjan at 8:33 am.

During the festival days, daily rituals will include Mangal Aarti at 4:30 am, Pushpanjali at 9:00 am, Sandhya Aarti at 6:45 pm and Bhog distribution between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Cultural programmes will also be held every evening at 7:30 pm.

Organisers have invited devotees and residents of Jamshedpur to attend the celebrations with family and experience the spiritual atmosphere of the festival.
