Ranchi: Newly appointed minister Banna Gupta was allotted the Agriculture and Sugarcane Development Department along with the Housing Department by Jharkhand governor Dr Syed Ahmad on the advise of Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday.
Gupta was sworn in as the state Cabinet minister following the recent resignation of former agriculture minister Yogendra Sao. Sao quit his post following allegations of his Naxalite links.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren faced pressure of other Cabinet colleagues and opposition parties over the controversy and finally approved Gupta�s appointment as minister.
