Bagbera villagers to gherao DC Office on June 20

Jamshedpur, June 12: The villagers of Bagbera and several other adjoining localities will be gheraoing the office of the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner on 20th June to protest against alleged delay in the implementation of Bagbera rural water supply project.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the villagers of Bagbera, Kitadih, Karandih, Ghaghidih and the 33 settlements in Tatanagar railway area here on Sunday. The meeting was held at Dadi Bagan, Kitadih. It was chaired by Subodh Jha, president of Mahanagar Vikas Samiti.

Addressing the meeting, Jha said the state government authorities had assured the Bagbera residents during Delhi Padyatra that their demands would be fulfilled within three months. The authorities had said that the Bagbera rural water supply project would be inaugurated within the said deadline, but so far no action has started, he said.

The outfit members said a delegation of Bagbera residents would again organize a padyatra to New Delhi and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A PIL would also be filed in the High Court if needed, they said.
