Bagbera residents demand compensation for accident victims, police station gheraoed

Jamshedpur, Feb. 6 : Residents of Bagbera locality on Monday gheraoed the Bagbera police station demanding compensation for the family of two youths, who were killed in a road mishap near Tatanagar station under Bagbera police station area late last night.

Those killed were identified as Ritesh Kumar Mishra (23), a resident of Jagdishpur Road in Bagbera and Rishi Bhushan Sahee (24) , from Ranchi used to stay in a rented house at Bagbera Colony.

The two mishap victims were riding on a bike through the Traffic Colony road to the Station Road were hit and run over by a speeding truck.

The protesters, which include the relatives of the mishap victims were demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation for the kin of both the mishap victims. They refused to accept Rs 20,000 compensation that the police and local administration wanted to pay as compensation.

A relative said that the truck driver fled the spot abandoning the vehicle as there was no papers pertaining to the iron-ore that was laden in it.

A protestor said that the truck was running at a moderate speed as it was laden with illegal iron ore and driver must be in a haste to cross the road as early as possible.
