Jamshedpur, Jan. 17: The education department has also requested about 600 B.Ed trainees to help the government school teachers in paper correction since manpower is a problem in high schools of the state. Since B.Ed students join a two month internship programme for their experience in teaching, they too have agreed to help students score better.East Singhbhum district education officer (DEO), Shivendra Kumar has requested the teachers.
There are around 250 teachers including 159 government teachers in the secondary level in East Singhbhum and a little more than 100 teachers in senior secondary including the 25 teachers from government schools.
An evaluator has to correct an answer sheet and crosscheck the totalling twice before it is fed in the computer. The most important part is that every evaluator has been given a rubber stamp which they have to use in every single copy they check. The stamp bears the name of the evaluator and the name of the college he/she belongs to.
An official said that most of the government schools in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district are running still without the headmasters, teachers, and teaching work is being disrupted. He informed that in East Singhbhum alone there are 58 Rajkiyakrit high schools, 11 of which have plus two. Out of these 47 high schools have just eight full-time headmasters, the rest of the work being carried out in-charges.
The appointment of the headmasters has been delayed over the years by the government and education department. He urged the Chief Minister Raghubar Das to soon overcome the shortage of teachers in government schools in East Singhbhum. He said that state of education should be improved and educational activities in the schools of the district must be brought on the track.
The Jharkhand Prathamik Shikshak Sangh, an association of government school teachers said that they would ensure that the rationalisation is done as per the state guidelines or else they shall protest against the decision.
